Skin Hunger (A Resurrection of Magic, Book 1)

Skin Hunger - Kathleen Duey I do not understand where all the awards came from. This book was sloooooow, hardly anything ever happened. It was so very depressing also. Reading about all those boys starving day after day was not pleasant. It was slow - as I mentioned - lacking plot, flat characters and from what I hear... NO ending! I did not get to that point, I stopped after 250 pages. I could not get myself to read the last 100. It makes me quite angry when I have to set a book down midway through it. I actually get angry with the author for WASTING MY TIME!The chapters are very small, 2-4 pages each, going back and fourth between Sadima and Hahp. The pages do not hold much character development -- Sadima stays uninteresting and Hahp is constantly thinking of food. You also do not get a true understanding of the scenery- the city. This book might be a trailer for things to come up in the series, but a book should be able to somewhat stand on its own. If you read this book only, you will receive NO satisfaction whatsoever. Finally, this book was written quite simply for YA. The author (personally) seems pandering having oversimplified her sentences and word use. She repeats things a lot where the stories connect, I guess maybe, she doesn't believe the YA will pick up subtlety.http://ReadingTeen.blogspot.com/
