Prophecy of the Sisters has been out for awhile, but I hadn't heard of it until I received an ARC of Guardian of the Gate. The premise was intriguing and the cover just looked creepy, so I picked up Prophecy at the library. I decided that since it has been out awhile, and there are already a lot of reviews of it out there, that I would do my review a little differently. I decided to write down my thoughts as I read (without spoilers). I hope you enjoy my journey through this book!Ch. 1-I'm immediately in love with the writing. I can tell that the story is happening a long time in the past. The mark on Lia's wrist is intriguing, as is Alice's mysterious behavior. -- I'm hooked!Ch. 2-What secrets is the "Dark Room" hiding. I'm seriously freaking out. My heart is pounding. This chapter is reading like a horror movie and I love it! What is behind her parents' untimely deaths? And what is her sister up to? Alice is creeping me out!Ch. 3-It's interesting to start a story where the romance has already begun. James and Lia have been friends since childhood, but are now in love. I like James immediately! He seems kind and sensitive with an air of mischievousness about him. Their relationship is sweet and romantic!Ch. 4-I love Lia's curiosity and her unwillingness to turn her back on a mystery, even though the truth may be frightening......I'd like to punch Alice......Ch. 5-Well, my heart is racing again, as the sisters have a strange encounter with Sonia Sorrensen, a spiritualist who can speak with the dead. It's so strange how different Alice and Lia are considering they're twins. Alice's friend, Victoria is a complete stuck-up snob, but I like Lia's new friend, Luisa, right away!Ch. 6-7-CREEPY LITTLE GIRL!!!I'm loving the fact that I haven't read anything about this book. I have no idea what's happening, other than there's two sisters and a mysterious prophecy. Fascinating bits and pieces are slowly being revealed.Ch. 8-10-More things being revealed. I feel sorry for Lia's crippled younger brother, Henry. He misses his father so much and Alice is obviously doing something to scare him. Lia treats him kindly but Alice is very disturbing.Ch. 11-Lia, Sophia, and Luisa become fast friends as they try to decipher the Prophecy in a race against time and against Alice.WOW! BLINDSIDE! I did NOT see that coming!Ch. 12-Wondering more than ever what happened to Lia's parents. Why didn't they explain anything to Lia before they died?Ch. 13-15-I don't want to say too much because I don't want to give anything away. The decaying relationship between the sisters is sad to read. But I think I've figured out what the Keys are....Ch. 16-21-I was right!! Well....partially right, anyway! P.S. I love Edmund!Ch. 22-I'm in constant fear that Alice will overhear Lia and her friends as they try to unravel the prophecy. My stomach is in knots! Be careful, Lia!Ch. 23-27-Why doesn't someone ship Alice off to boarding school? Or better yet, push her off a cliff! AHH!!Ch. 28-I really wish that the people who are continually saving/helping Lia would teach her how to fight for herself. It's not that she isn't willing to learn. She's totally ready to fight, she just can't get anyone to give her enough information!Ch. 29-AHH!!! I want to scream, "WAKE UP LIA!!! It's right in front of your face!!" Ch. 30-Holy Crap!! As I sit on my back porch reading this chapter, the sky has turned from sunshine to clouds and the ominous sound of thunder is getting closer and closer......how fitting.....Ch. 31-"....the rain is incessant, and I see nothing that gives me hope."-Lia-My heart is pounding again, and I've noticed that I keep clicking my pen over and over again....this is intense.Ch. 32-35My emotions have run the gamut in this book and especially in these last few chapters. Some things are revealed about the prophecy and the roles that the sisters will play, but many questions are left unanswered. At my house, the rain has stopped and the sun has returned...is that a sign of things to come? I guess I'll have to read The Guardian of the Gate to find out. Luckily it's sitting right here!Overall this was a really exciting and fantastically written story. It read kind of slowly in parts, but not in a bad, boring way at all. More like and old-time gothic way. Plus it was very clean, which you all know is a plus in my book! I would definitely recommend it!Andye (http://ReadingTeen.net/)
