Reading Teen

I didn't read the back of this book before I started it. I didn't read a description of any kind and I'm still trying to decide if I'm happy about that, or if I wish I would have known what to expect. Because this was definitely not what I was expecting. If you've seen The Lake House, that's basically what I thought this book was going to be, but it was completely different. (Okay, maybe not completely different, they're still two people from two different times, but it was different-er than I thought it would be.) Either way, if you've made it this far in my review, then you've already read the description so it doesn't even matter. You already know that it's not some magical mailbox that connects two people from different decades, it's Bennett himself. Bennett has the power to time travel, and that is what made me love this book. Because paranormal books, while amazing, all tend to have the same feel. They're usually darker and while most of them have romance, it's not usually the focus. I loved Time Between Us because the characters were charming and funny, and the storyline was unique, but mostly because I felt like it broke out of the paranormal stereotype, and that made it stand out in my mind more than any other book I've read in a long time. The only thing that bugged me a bit was that I found myself forgetting that they were supposed to be in 1995. I didn't feel like there were enough details to keep my mindset in the 90's, so I had to keep reminding myself that they weren't even in the same decade as we are now.
