Reading Teen

I've never been a huge fan of horror books. Or movies. Or video games. I just have never particularly liked horror stuff. However, reading The Last Apprentice series is an entirely different matter. Rage of the Fallen is the eight book in the series, and though I'm typically not a fan of a long series of books, The Last Apprentice is one of my favorites. Joseph Delaney is a fantastic author, giving a great mixture of action or horror. There are certain scenes in this book that will inevitably send chills running down your spine. In a good way, of course. One thing I absolutely love about this series of books is that it is constantly fulls of plot twists, as well as cliffhangers. Ever think to yourself, "I'll read just one more chapter, then I'm putting the book down." Good luck doing that with The Last Apprentice. There is a constant sense of danger going on, with the characters constantly going through challenge after challenge, up until the very last page of the book. And after that, there'll be another book that you just can't wait to get your hands on. This book is a consistent roller coaster ride of action. Another awesome thing about Delaney's writing is that he never hesitates with violence. Monsters eating people, people beheading monsters, people carrying a monster's head around in a sack, suicidal goats. And since I typically find monster-fighting in books to be quite awesome, this is something In greatly enjoy. I would recommend this book to fans of a horror-themed book. Delaney mixes all sorts of mythological gods and goddesses (Pan, the Morrigan, Hephaestus) in with all sorts of monsters (witches, boggarts, thin old guys who will suck your blood) and there is a certain level of creepiness going on throughout.
