I don't know what to rate this book.......I really don't.At a Glance:Much like the first book, The Evolution of Mara Dyer was equal parts amazing, frustrating, predictable and original. As Mara's life spirals out of control, so does the reader's brain. Though the writing is beautiful, the story has some frustrations that may be too much for many readers to put up with, while others will devour every word. This is a book you will probably either love or hate.Cover:I love these covers, although I liked the first one better. The guy looks a little bit like a mannequin :/Action:Umm...yes. Action, suspense, and violent, violent, violence.Romance:The romance was definitely kicked up a notch in this one. INTENSE. So much sexual tension.Heroine:If ever there was an "unreliable narrator," Mara Dyer (if that's even her name) is it. She's definitely certifiable, a little whiny, but seriously fierce and determined.Hero:Noah. Why do you have to smoke? I know you don't have any other flaws, but does that have to be the one you have? I mean....I'm just not down with that smell....or yellow teeth. Rich, brilliant, overprotective, and broodish, Noah is definitely a favorite with the ladies. I spent most of the book trying to decide if she should kiss him or smack him.Favorite Supporting Character:I'm going to have to go with the mysterious Grandmother, who isn't really actually in this book, but there's a lot about her, and I find her fascinating. I also love Daniel, Mara's sweet, sweet brother.Something I loved:The originality of this entire story. I've never read anything like it. Here we are going on book 3, and we still don't know what on earth is going on. And the writing is phenomenal. Something(s) I hated:I hated: How broody Noah was. How needy Mara was. How Noah's money was the solution to every problem they ran into. How predictable and unbelievable Jude's storyline was.Cliffhanger? The mother of all cliffhangers. These books should not be called a trilogy. It is not three stories with one overall arc, it is one giant story chopped into pieces. Would I recommend it?I would recommend it to certain people, but only after the third book is out because you'll only be left hanging at this point.Did my friends like it? My friend Nichole (15) read it and absolutely loved it. She's in love with Noah, and thinks this may be her favorite series right now. Will I buy/keep it?If I had it, I would keep it, but since I got it at the library, I probably won't buy it at this point. I hope to acquire it someday, but it's not a priority.Book Doppelgangers:Hmmmm.....yeah.....I got nothin'Perplexedly yours,AndyeReadingTeen.netContent: Sexual Content: Heavy (very heavy sexual tension) Profanity: Heavy Violence: Heavy Other Notables: Mental IssuesFor more details check out The Evolution of Mara Dyer on Parentalbookreviews.com
