At a Glance:I. Love. This. Book.Unspoken was quite possibly the most charmingly creepy books I've ever read. The constant humor and quick wit kept me laughing throughout the entire story, while the mysterious secrets, bizarre happenings, and tormenting romance kept me enthralled. There aren't many books I would recommend to everyone, no matter what your taste, but this is definitely one of them.A quick grab:It didn't take me long to fall in love with the writing. I'm pretty sure by page five I was thinking, "YES, FINALLY! A book that I'll like!" I'd been having serious issues getting into books lately, and this was exactly what I needed to break the cycle. I swear, every other line in this book is quotable. It was just so funny! Every character was witty in his or her own way. I can't tell you how much I loved the dialog! I especially love Kami's best friend, Angela, and also Kami's dad. They were so hilariously clever! And the rest of the characters were just as developed and fantastic. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a book this much.A Feisty Little Thing:Kami may be small, but she is seven-feet-tall in feisty-ness. She really made me think a lot about Nancy Drew, actually, but with a kick. I loved the way that she plunged head-long into the thick of things. When most people would be scared off, she just wanted to find answers, and no one was going to stop her. The Connection:I didn't know how I would like the whole talking-in-each-others-head thing. I mean, I smelled insta-love all over that one. So, I was completely shocked that I didn't get that at all. The romantic tension between Jared and Kami is fierce, but they aren't just going to jump into a relationship because they happen to hear each-others thoughts for some reason. Can I tell you how much I love this? Their relationship was complicated and intense and heartbreaking and sweet and one of the best written relationships I've ever read. The Creepy:It's crazy that a book that is so funny, and so romantic, can also be so creepy and mysterious. I absolutely loved the storyline in Unspoken. This town, called Sorry-in-the-Vale, is equal parts charming and twisted. It's full of secrets and perplexities. The town's life-long inhabitants are reluctant to tell any newcomers about its history and oddities, so we get to discover the mysteries right along with Kami and her unlikely crew. And what dark and twisted mysteries they are!Buy this book:I don't normally come right out and tell you to buy a book. I know everyone has different tastes. I just can't imagine that there could be anyone that didn't fall in love with Unspoken. Every page of this book was filled with either humor, romantic tension, or heart-pumping intensity, and sometimes all three! There was never a dull moment, and I just can't wait until book two so I can find out what happens next! Even though I already read it, I decided to buy a copy for myself, and I'm telling you, you should buy one too!Book Doppelgangers:The Body Finder by Kimberly Derting (for the mix of humor and creepy), Heist Society by Ally Carter (for the mystery solving), Eve & Adam by Michael Grant (for the witty dialog)-AndyeReadingTeen.netContent: Profanity: Moderate Sexual Content: Mild (Moderate dialog) Violence: HeavyFor more details, check out Unspoken on Parentalbookreviews.com
